How to make money with Google Ad Sense

This is a simple guide to show you how to make money with Google Ad Sense. If you already have a webpage or blog
and aren’t using Google Ad Sense, you could be missing out on some automatic earnings everyday. Google AdSense basically puts ads on your website that are related to your website content. You get paid when someone clicks an ad.

For example: I have a website that I sell dog t-shirts from: www.cafePress.com/fashionpug

Step1

If I want to make extra income from ads on my web-site, I sign up for Google AdSense. Google Adsense then gives me an HTML code that I enter on my dog t-shirt website. Now, ads begin to appear on my website that are related to my site’s content.

The example below shows some Google AdSense ads on my dog t-shirt website:

Step2

Ads Relate to Content.

As you can see, all of the ads are related to dogs, and may be help-
ful and interesting to people who are visiting a dog t-shirt website. If someone is interested in dog jewelry, they might click the ad that says “Dog Gifts & Collectibles.”
When they click that ad, I will earna profit. I earn a profit every time
an ad is clicked.

Step3

When They Click,You Earn.

It’s that easy to earn money with Google AdSense, and you don’t have to worry about selling a product or inventory, etc. Once you set up your Ad Sense account,
Google takes care of the rest. It’s basically a “hands off” money-making system. It is a great way to earn extra passive income on your website or blog.

Step4

How Much Profit Can I Make?

Let’s say I earn an average of $.12 per click from my ads on my dog t-shirt website. If 1,000 people visit my website a day, and out of those 1,000 people, 10 click on a Google Ad sense ad, then I will make $1.20 a day. So it is basically a numbers game. The more traffic you have, the more earnings you can receive.

Step5

How do I sign up for Google AdSense?

• Go to: Google Adsense
(You will need a blog or some other type of web- site to sign up for Google AdSense.) If you don’t have a website or blog, there are many free blog sites available. I personally use Blogger.com. There are also services where you can make free websites such as: Webs.com

Step6

Create your Ads

• After signing up on Google AdSense, log into your account at: https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_US/?gsessionid=vlloC1bSfNC5zY90GcosBg

Step7

• Click “AdSense Setup” on the toolbar.
• To place ads on your blog or content website, click “AdSense for Content”
• Click “Ad unit” (the default) for now, and click “Continue.”
• Choose the size of ads you would like displayed on your page and the colors.
• Check out this video for great tips on choosing ad sizes, colors, and ways to optimize your Google

AdSense ads:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpPX4A78jqg

Step8

Adjust your Ads

• Next, you can add a channel if you like to help you group certain adds together and help track them better.
• Name your ad with a title that is easy to recognize and includes the name of your website, size of the ad, location of where you will put the ad on your webpage (ex: DogHomepage 728x90 top center).
• Click “Submit and Get Code.” Step9Add the Code to Your Website or Blog • Go to your website and enter the area where you can edit the HTML on your website.
• Paste your Google AdSense code into the html at your desired location on the website layout.
• After adding the new HTML code, your Google Ad-Sense ads should begin appearing on your website.
The ads should be related to the content of your website. If they are not related to your content, you may need to edit your website’s content to add more keywords that highlight the main topic of your website.

Step10

Sit back and Start Earning

• When someone visits your website and clicks on one of your Google AdSense ads, you will earn money in your Google Adsense account.

Warning: DO NOT click on your own Adsense ads or put content on your website that says things like “Click my Adsense ads.” If you do so, Google Adsense will suspend or cancel your account.
• You can check your Google Adsense account whenever you like to see how much money you are earning and to find out which ads are working best for you. You can then adjust your ads accordingly for the best results.

15 Tips to Increase Blog Traffic

The blogosphere is a big and busy world with over 100 million blogs and growing. How do you attract visitors to your blog? Follow these simple tips to drive traffic to your blog.

1. Write Well and Write Often
Frequently updating your blog with useful content is the first step to building your blog's audience. The content you write is what will keep readers coming back for more. Make sure you have something meaningful to say to them and say it often to maintain their interest and keep them loyal.

Furthermore, post frequently to increase the number of chances you have for your blog's content to be noticed by search engines such as Google or Technorati.

.2. Submit Your Blog to Search Engines
Get on the radar screen for the popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo! by submitting your blog's URL to them. Most search engines provide a 'Submit' link (or something similar) to notify the search engine of your new blog, so those search engines will crawl it and include your pages in their results.

It's important to understand that simply submitting your blog to search engines doesn't mean your pages will appear at the top of a Google search results screen, but at least your blog will be included and will have the chance of being picked up by a search engine.

.3. Use and Update Your Blogroll
By adding links to sites you like in your blogroll, the owners of those blogs will find your blog and will be likely to add a reciprocal link in their blogrolls. It's an easy way to get the link to your blog in front of many readers on other blogs. The hope is that some of those readers will click on the link to your blog on the other blogs' blogrolls and find your content interesting and enjoyable turning them into loyal readers.

.4. Harness the Power of Comments
Commenting is a simple and essential tool to increase your blog's traffic. First, respond to comments left on your blog to show your readers that you value their opinions and draw them into a two-way conversation. This will increase reader loyalty.

Second, leave comments on other blogs to drive new traffic. Make sure you leave your blog's URL in your comment, so you create a link back to your own blog. Many people will read the comments left on a blog post. If they read a particularly interesting comment, they are highly likely to click on the link to visit the commentor's website. It's important to make sure you leave meaningful comments that are likely to invite people to click on your link to read more.

.5. Syndicate Your Blog's Content with an RSS Feed
Setting up an RSS feed button on your blog makes it easy for your loyal readers to not just read your blog but also know when you publish new content.

.6. Use Links and Trackbacks
Links are one of the most powerful parts of your blog. Not only are links noticed by search engines, but they also act as a tap on the shoulder to other bloggers who can easily identify who is linking to their sites. Linking helps to get you noticed by other bloggers who are likely to investigate the sites that are linking to them. This may lead them to become new readers of your blog or to add links to your blog from theirs.

You can take links to other blogs a step further by leaving a trackback on the other blog to let them know you've linked to them. Blogs that allow trackbacks will include a link back to your blog in the comments section of the post that you originally linked to. People do click on trackback links!

.7. Tag Your Posts
It takes a few extra seconds to add tags to each of your blog posts, but it's worth the time in terms of the additional traffic tags can drive to your blog. Tags (like links) are easily noticed by search engines. They're also key to helping readers find your blog when they perform searches on popular blog search engines such as Technorati.

.8. Submit Your Posts to Social Bookmarking Sites
Taking the time to submit your best posts to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit and more can be a simple way to quickly boost traffic to your blog.

.9. Remember Search Engine Optimization
When you write your blog posts and pages, remember to optimize your pages for search engines to find them. Include relevant keywords and links but don't overload your posts with too many relevant keywords or completely irrelevant keywords. Doing so can be considered spamming and could have negative results such as your blog being removed from Google's search entirely.

.10. Don't Forget Images
Images don't just make your blog look pretty, they also help people find you in search engine listings. People often use the image search options offered by Google, Yahoo! and other search engines, and naming your images with search engine optimization in mind can easily boost your traffic.
The blogosphere is a big and busy world with over 100 million blogs and growing. How do you attract visitors to your blog? Follow these simple tips to drive traffic to your blog.

11. Consider Guest Blogging
Guest blogging can be done when you write a guest post on another blogger's blog or when another blogger writes a guest post on your blog. Both methods are likely to increase traffic as your blog will be exposed to the other blogger's audience. Many of the other blogger's readers will visit your blog to see what you have to say.

12. Join Forums, Web Rings or Online Groups
Find online forums, web rings, groups or social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn where you can share ideas and ask questions of like-minded individuals. Add a link to your blog in your signature line or profile, so each time you post on a forum or participate in another online network, you're indirectly promoting your blog. Chances are many people will click on that link to learn more about you.

.13. Promote Outside Your Blog
Promoting your blog shouldn't stop when you step outside the blogosphere. Add your blog's URL to your email signature and business cards. Talk about it in offline conversations. It's important to get your name and your blog's URL noticed offline, too.

.14. Nominate Yourself and Other Blogs for Blog Awards
There are a number of blog awards given out throughout the year. Nominating yourself and other blogs and bloggers can draw attention to your blog and drive traffic to it.

.15. Don't Be Shy
The most important part of the blogosphere is its community and much of your success as a blogger will be tied to your willingness to network with that community. Don't be afraid to ask questions, join conversations or just say hi and introduce yourself. Don't sit back and hope the online world will find you. Speak out and get yourself noticed. Let the blogosphere know you've arrived and have something to say!

AdBrite - A Good AdSense Alternative?

My last post on my top 7 money making programs generated some questions about AdBrite.

Some people wanted to know if it’s legal to use with AdSense. Others were curious if it pays well.

First of all, yes, it’s OK to use AdBrite in conjunction with AdSense. It does not violate Google’s Terms of Service if you want to use both programs on your site or blog.

As far as earning potential goes, you’ll get the same answer as you would for any contextual advertising system. A lot will depend on your traffic, niche, and ad targeting.

A Few Kinks

Unlike Google, AdBrite has got lots of work to do in the targeting department.
In fact, the network ads were so unrelated I had to turn off the “auto approve” feature because I had ads for cars and jewelry showing up on my site about web development. Yikes!

I guess AdBrite must realize this is a problem because they give you the option to approve the ads before they show up on your site.
This can be a pain because it requires you to login to your account and manually review each new ad. However, if showing targeted ads on your site is a priority (and it should be), then this step is a must.

As I mentioned in my last post, I didn’t join AdBrite for their CPC (cost per click) program. I personally think AdSense is the best program for that.
I use AdBrite to sell ad space to 3rd parties. So the only time the network (CPC) ads appear on my pages is when I have not sold all my flat rate ad spaces.

Their 3rd party ad management is pretty good. You have complete control over how your customer’s ads will appear. You can change the font style, text size, etc. and choose either a horizontal or vertical layout.

Is AdBrite Worth It?

That’s one of those things you’ll have to test for yourself. I certainly like them better than programs like Kontera where they underline your text and display the ad when the person hovers over the hyperlink.

I don’t know why, but I find those kinds of ads to be terribly annoying and distracting. Yet, others may say the same thing about AdSense, AdBrite and the likes. So, to each their own, right?

Even though AdBrite’s targeting needs work, they’ve certainly gotten better over the past six months. And the good thing is, it’s not going to cost you a thing to try them out.

For me, they are worth it because I like having a 3rd party manage my flat-rate ads. So if you’re looking to sell ad space from your site, you may want to look into AdBrite.

And if you’re searching for a new monetization option or perhaps you’ve been booted from AdSense and you’re looking for other CPC programs — give AdBrite a try to see how it works with your site or blog.

In my opinion, it doesn’t hold a candle to AdSense in terms of earnings for CPC, but depending on your niche, you may find that certain ads perform very well on your site.

AdBrite Vs. AdSense - A Pay Per Click Battle

The most valuable and most credible Pay Per Click systems online are of course Google AdSense and AdBrite. The other PPC systems are good but they do not have a ‘proven track record’. Widgetbucks only recently opened its doors and I am yet to analyse it’s success, I might wait another two months or so.

As for Google AdSense and AdBrite…what makes them so good? The key to any good Pay Per Click system is the customization aspect of their service. AdSense and AdBrite allow you to customize their ads to a very high level, changing background colours, font colors etc…And some like AdBrite allow you to customize the ad a lot more than AdSense.

If you are currently using AdSense I would suggest you check out AdBrite, it is actually very reputable, it is easy to get your ads up and going and in the long run might even get you a better CTR than AdSense because you there is no indication to where the ads come from, unlike AdSense where there is a big “Ads by Google” stuck on the corner.

AdBrite has been at the forefront of development when it comes to providing their publishers and advertisers with more forms of advertising and publishing, they have text ads, banner ads, full page ads (and for these you don’t need an actual click to get paid sometimes, it’s like…free money!), inline text ads (up to 8 on one page) and more recently BritePic and InVideo ads.

I am telling you to check out www.adbrite.com and sign up for it. No referral or affiliate links here! This is such a great alternative to Google AdSense and it will give you so much more FREEDOM! The fact of the matter is that LESS people know about AdBrite (a lot of people now know about AdSense), I believe if you highly customize it enough people will no longer realize it is an ad…and that is what you want…don’t you? It is THAT customizable…trust me, you will be very pleased!
